Directions: From I-24, take exit 178 onto 27N. Take exit 1C (4th Street/Downtown.) First left on Chestnut Street, first left again on 3rd Street. AT&T Field is at the top of the hill.
From I-75, take 24 West and follow above directions.
There is plenty of parking in downtown and Chattanooga offers a trolley shuttle that stops close to AT&T Field.
Here's a view of the exterior taken from my hotel room.
Since the park is on top of a hill, there is an escalator (under the blue tarp), a ramp, and stairs that can be used to access the park.
This is the same ballpark at the Bell South Park review on my site, but this is 14 years later.
Hotels: There are several nearby so do your research before booking. I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn on this visit and would recommend it. If traveling by car, there is an additional parking fee ($8 most recently at the Hilton Garden Inn). Another option might be the Residence Inn.
Here's a view of the interior from the center field.
I visited early in the game and a grounds crew individual encouraged me to walk along the outfield and take photos so long as I didn't step on the grass. There is both fake grass and fake dirt on the field so I suspect he was joking.
Things I liked about this visit the Lookouts
The city of Chattanooga; lots to see and do
I saw a no-hitter
25 cent program that includes the home and visitor's roster and stats and some team notes as well as a newspaper that includes lots of advertisements, player profiles, and information about the Lookouts, the stadium, the Southern League, and more
The organization allowing me to check out the venue earlier in the day
The bullpens are in a different area than other minor league stadiums I've visited.
They are located beyond the outfield wall with just a caged in viewing area for the relief pitcher to watch the game.
A better view of the fake dirt and grass.
This is Andres Santiago of the Chattanooga Lookouts; the one who pitched the no-hitter. He had a perfect game going into the 8th inning. With one out, he gave up a walk. His teammates supported him with a 6-4-3 double play for the next batter. Then he struck out the side the top of the 9th. Quite impressive.
It was spectacular to be at this exciting event and accomplishment.
There's a party deck in right field.
Things I didn't like about this visit the Lookouts
The bullpen area. I like seeing the relief pitchers.
I wasn't fond of the mascot; but I'm not a fan of mascots
I prefer real grass and dirt on baseball diamonds
The scoreboard in left field at AT&T Field with clock on top.
Below the JAT OIL INC/EXXON advertisement, you can see the caged in viewing area of the bullpen.
