Baltimore Orioles

Date visited: 7/23/02

Note: I revisited Camden Yards in 2014. Click here for an update.

Directions: Check the official website listed below for directions to the stadium.

Ease of getting in and out: I stayed at a hotel within walking distance. That's the best way to do it.

Hotel: There are many in the area within walking distance. I stayed at the Holiday Inn, Baltimore-Inner Harbor DWT. It was just fine.

Website: I didn't care for it too much. Had a tough time finding some information.

Here's the view of Oriole Park at Camden Yards from my hotel room. As you can see, it was very close.

Got to the game an hour or so ahead of the first pitch. The Toronto BlueJays were doing batting practice and warm ups. A big dark cloud was approaching from the left field side.

Cloud is still there. I had excellent seats. First level, last row, behind the dugout. You can see the city of Baltimore behind center field in this photo.

Do I see the grounds crew heading for the tarp? It appears so. Game hasn't started yet.

It was bound to happen. It's not raining at this point, but the tarp was being rolled out.

And it did finally begin to rain. Me, and most other fans kept shelter in the concourse. I hung out in this stairway awaiting the game to start.

And rain it did. Poured. I sat in that stairway for 2 hours until they finally called the game. If you lived more than 70 miles from the stadium, they offered to refund you. A check will be mailed in 4 - 6 weeks. Otherwise, you got your choice of the rescheduled game or another game at Camden Yards.
